Who Are We?
Egged, the leading public transport operator in Israel, established in January 1933, when four public transport companies were merged into on. Egged provides about 55% of public transport services throughout the country. Egged is divided into two divisions, Operations and Head Office. The Operations Division is divided into three main branches: Northern Operations, Southern Operations and Jerusalem Operations

Egged has set itself five objectives in promoting its operations:

In 2009 Egged purchased 185 buses that meet Euro 5 standards: 50 of which are articulated low-floored buses, 93 - city buses, 36 - intercity buses, and 6 minibuses

 

Corporate Governance

The unique cooperative structure of Egged is one of the main factors that contribute to its employees’ involvement and identification with the company’s aims and goals.

Representative Assembly numbers 85 members who are elected in internal elections every four years.   Representative Assembly is comprised of representatives from each branch or garage according to its relative size.

Management numbers 19 members who are elected in the second stage of elections by Representative Assembly members. The Management approves budget, cooperative’s policy in various fields, investments, and loans

Supervisory Committee numbers six members who are elected in cooperative’s elections. The Committee supervises all cooperative’s activities

Members Tribunal numbers 40 members who are elected in cooperative’s elections to act as judges. The Tribunal deals with employees disciplinary issues. The hearings are conducted with panels of different sizes, based on the issue at hand, and includes both first and appeal court levels.
