Privacy Policy – Students at Egged Colleges and Applicants to Egged Colleges

Egged Transportation Company Ltd. ("Egged”or "the Company") strictly adheres to the provisions of the law concerning protection of the privacy of students at Egged colleges located in the Company's facilities ("Students” and “Colleges ") and the privacy of applicants to Egged colleges ("Applicants").

The purpose of this policy is to inform Applicants and Students at the Colleges about the personal information collected and processed by Egged (independently, or through third parties providing services to it), the purposes of processing the information, the manner of sharing the information, and their rights in connection with the information about them. 

This policy applies to persons applying to study at the Colleges and to students at the Colleges, for the duration of their studies, their theoretical training and their practical training. The period of retention of the information is specified in the Information Retention and Deletion section. This policy does not apply to employees of the Company studying at the Colleges, who will be subject to the privacy policy applicable to the Company’s employees. 

This policy is written in the masculine form for convenience only, but it is intended for all genders alike. 

Provision and collection of personal information in connection with applications submitted for training at the Colleges and the Company’s examination of applications and information collected in relation to Students

Applicants will be required to provide personal information including: 

  • Identifying information. Such as: first name, last name and identity card number.

  • Contact information. Such as: address, email address and mobile/landline phone number.

  • Information regarding training, education and professional experience. Such as: licenses, professional or academic studies, work experience and references, including certificates attesting to such licensing or education.

  • Details of driver’s licenses, including copies, and driving record.

  • Medical information, such as medical information summaries and vision tests, and additional information required for the purpose of examining their eligibility to apply for admission to studies as a public vehicle driver, under the provisions of the Traffic Ordinance [New Version] and the regulations promulgated thereunder and in accordance with the applicable regulation in the field from time to time. The Company may require Applicants to undergo medical examinations or additional medical tests. 

  • The Applicant's expectations regarding work in the Company, as applicable. Such as: working conditions and salary expectations.

  • Information related to suitability and conditions for participation in the training
    To the extent applicable, information pertaining to the assessment of suitability for the curriculum, fulfillment of admission requirements, and expectations/preferences regarding the training framework (for example: availability, track, scope). 

  • Additional personal information that Applicants may provide at their discretion. Such as: hobbies, social initiatives, military service, etc.

  • Additionally, insofar as further information regarding the Applicant is or will be legally required under the provisions of the Prevention of Employment of Sex Offenders in Certain Institutions Law, 5761-2001, and the regulations promulgated and to be promulgated thereunder, the Applicant will be required to provide such information as well. 

Important clarifications

  • There is no legal obligation for an Applicant or Student at a College to provide personal information; however, in the absence of relevant personal information for the evaluation of an Applicant’s application to study at a College, the Company will not be able to consider their application. Similarly, a Student is not obligated to provide such personal information, but failure to provide the information may result in termination of their studies at Egged's colleges. Notwithstanding the foregoing, receiving a public vehicle driver’s license is contingent, under applicable law, upon undergoing examinations to assess medical fitness and mental fitness, and also includes the provision of information pertaining to the course of training to the legally competent authorities. 

  • An Applicant or Student should refrain from providing personal information that they do not wish to share.

  • The Company does not require the Applicant or Student to provide it with personal information that is not directly related to the examination of their application or studies, including personal information not related to training, education or professional experience (or, in the cases mentioned above, to the Applicant's health status, or information intended to determine their suitability for the position as stated) that is relevant to the studies at the Colleges.

  • The Company guides Applicants and Students through procedures with governmental authorities for receiving a public vehicle driver’s license. In this context, Applicants and Students are required to provide information to such governmental authorities and/or their designated service providers, for example: medical service providers conducting the required fitness examinations. It is clarified regarding this information that it is collected and provided in accordance with the directives of the competent authorities in the State of Israel, without the Company bearing any responsibility and/or liability in this regard. 

Collection of professional personal information from additional sources

Egged may collect personal information about Applicants and Students from public sources, or from third parties such as: references (whose names were provided by the Applicant) and information from social media platforms (including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and others). Egged may employ a third party to conduct background checks as stated.

Documentation of communications, recordings, documentation in systems

We document communications and service, including correspondence with Applicants and Students, as well as information in operational systems, including the CRM system. Additionally, calls to the enrollment center may be recorded for documentation, service, control and legal protection purposes. We draw your attention in this regard to the privacy policy appearing on the Egged website at https://www.egged.co.il/privacy. 

Information collected through cameras in facilities and buses

Cameras are installed in the Egged facilities in which the Colleges operate, as well as in the buses used for training. The cameras are intended for purposes of control, security, safety, learning and protection, prevention of vandalism, prevention of theft, prevention of accidents, handling of claims and legal proceedings.

Collection of additional information during application/admission procedures or during training

As part of the examination of an application or the conditions for acceptance/continued participation in training, Egged may request an Applicant to undergo medical examinations and/or a professional and/or psychological evaluation process performed by it independently or through service providers. Results of examinations/evaluations will be kept together with all the other information that is collected.

Evaluation providers will be obligated to use the results solely for the purpose of evaluating an Applicant’s application/suitability, unless explicit consent has been given otherwise. 

Use of personal information

Egged uses personal information about Applicants and Students for the following purposes:

  • Management of the Applicant’s application process, filtering, screening, evaluation of suitability, registration, and placement in classes

  • Training management: attendance, progress, assessments, documentation of results, and retention of training data for operational, control, safety, and certification purposes as applicable.

  • Recording and documentation of calls and inquiries, for purposes of documentation, control, service improvement, and legal protection. 

  • Compliance with the law and regulatory directives applicable to the Company in the domain of transportation/licensing/safety, as well as the provision of information legally required by a competent authority. 

  • Control and optimization of training processes and procedures for admission to the Colleges, including generation of aggregated insights for Egged's operational needs. 

  • Making contact and responding to inquiries regarding applications, studies and training, including operational notifications.

  • Generating insights for the operational needs of Egged and its affiliated companies on an aggregated basis. 

  • Conduct of legal proceedings. 

Protection of personal information and information security

The personal information provided to Egged or collected by it will be stored in the databases under its control. 

Egged takes strict care to manage its databases lawfully and to safeguard the security of the information contained therein, while implementing appropriate technological, legal and organizational security measures. 

Despite the implementation of security measures, the ability to completely prevent information security incidents is limited. It is recommended to refrain from providing information that is not required, particularly sensitive personal information. 

Transfer and sharing of personal information

Egged may transfer personal information to third parties in the following cases:

  • To suppliers for the purpose of implementing admission procedures and training processes (including providers of technology, data storage and data processing systems, cloud service providers, evaluation/screening institutes, and the like), to the extent required and solely for the purpose of providing the services. 

  • Where required by law, or at the request of a competent authority, such as the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Labor or the Ministry of Health, and suppliers of the Ministry of Transport or the Ministry of Health (such as companies providing medical services), the State Comptroller, the courts, the Commissioner for Equal Employment Opportunities.

  • With the consent (express or implied, in accordance with the provisions of the law) of the Applicant/Student.

  • To companies in the Egged Group, for the purpose of recruiting personnel for companies included in the Egged Group. In this regard, the “Egged Group” includes companies controlled by Egged that are located in Israel, including Egged Holdings Ltd., Egged Leasing Ltd., Egged Properties Ltd., Derech Egged Jerusalem Ring Ltd., Egged Heseim Ltd., Egged Golan Heights Ltd., Egged Metro Ltd. and Tevel Metro Ltd.

  • In the event of a change in ownership, merger, acquisition, dissolution or transfer of assets (including negotiations related thereto) – subject to the acquiring party acting in accordance with the principles of this policy and the law. 

Transfer of information outside Israel

Egged uses service providers, including cloud service providers, some of whom may be located outside Israel, and therefore personal information may be transferred or stored outside Israel. Egged will take appropriate protective measures in accordance with the law and agreements with the service providers.

Retention and deletion of information

Personal information of Applicants and Students who do not become employees of Egged will be kept for a period of up to 60 months from the end of the hiring process or the learning process or the last contact between the parties (whichever is later) – and then deleted, unless its continued retention is required by law, or insofar as a legal proceeding is underway that requires the retention of the information for a longer period for the purpose of conducting the proceeding. During this period, the Company may use the information for future communications and for the purpose of including the Applicant in a pool of candidates for driving positions, subject to the Applicant's right to request not to receive repeated communications, in accordance with the provisions of the law. 

Notwithstanding the foregoing, personal information of Applicants and Students who become employees of Egged or employees in the Egged Group, which also includes the companies under its control, will be kept as part of the personal information of the Company’s employees or employees of the relevant company in the Group in which the Applicant will be employed. Information about Applicants who become employees will be treated in the same way as personal information of the Company’s employees. Personal information of Applicants who become contractors of Egged will be kept as part of the personal information of Egged suppliers.

Applicants' rights of review, correction and deletion – personal information

Any Applicant or Student has the right to review the personal information held about them at Egged. The manner of exercising the right will be determined from time to time by the Company in accordance with its procedures, and in accordance with applicable law. In addition, an Applicant/Student may, in cases where information held about them is erroneous, or they believe it to be erroneous, request to correct or delete it, in accordance with the Company's procedures, and in accordance with the provisions of applicable law.
